Acceptable Use Policy

1. Overview

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") sets out the rules and guidelines that govern how you may use the Declotr platform, including our mobile application, website, and all related services (collectively, the "Platform").

This policy supplements our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to comply with this AUP. Violation of this policy may result in account suspension, termination, or legal action.

Our goal is to create a safe, trustworthy, and inclusive marketplace where buyers and sellers can transact with confidence. This AUP exists to protect all members of the Declotr community.

2. Prohibited Content

You may not list, upload, share, or promote any content on the Platform that:

• Violates laws or regulations — Including counterfeit goods, stolen property, controlled substances, weapons, or items prohibited by Nigerian law or the laws of your jurisdiction
• Is fraudulent or deceptive — Including fake products, misleading descriptions, doctored images, or false claims about product origin, quality, or certifications
• Contains hate speech — Content that promotes discrimination, hostility, or violence against individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or nationality
• Is sexually explicit or obscene — Including pornographic images, videos, or text, or items of a sexual nature that are not appropriate for a general audience
• Promotes violence or harm — Content that glorifies, incites, or encourages violence, self-harm, terrorism, or any form of physical or psychological abuse
• Infringes intellectual property — Including copyrighted material, trademarks, or patented designs used without proper authorisation or licensing
• Contains malware or harmful code — Including viruses, spyware, phishing links, or any software designed to harm devices or steal data
• Involves personal data of others — Posting private information about other individuals without their consent (doxxing)

3. Prohibited Activities

The following activities are strictly prohibited on the Platform:

• Account fraud: Creating multiple accounts to circumvent bans, manipulate reviews, or abuse promotions
• Price manipulation: Artificially inflating or deflating prices, including shill bidding in auctions
• Review manipulation: Posting fake reviews, paying for reviews, or coercing buyers into leaving positive reviews
• Spam and unsolicited messages: Sending bulk messages, unwanted commercial communications, or repeatedly posting irrelevant content
• Platform abuse: Scraping, crawling, or using automated tools to extract data from the Platform without authorisation
• Circumventing security: Attempting to bypass authentication, exploit vulnerabilities, or access other users' accounts or data
• Off-platform transactions: Directing buyers to complete purchases outside of the Declotr platform to avoid fees or buyer protections
• Money laundering: Using the Platform to process or transfer funds obtained through illegal activities
• Impersonation: Pretending to be another person, business, or Declotr representative

4. Seller Conduct

Sellers on Declotr must adhere to the following standards:

• Accurate listings: Product descriptions, images, prices, and conditions must accurately represent the item being sold. Clearly state whether items are new, used, or refurbished
• Honest communication: Respond to buyer inquiries promptly and truthfully. Do not make promises you cannot fulfil regarding shipping times, product quality, or returns
• Timely fulfilment: Ship orders within the timeframe specified in your listing. Update order status promptly and provide tracking information where available
• Fair pricing: Prices must reflect the actual value of the product. Price gouging, hidden fees, and bait-and-switch tactics are prohibited
• Compliance with laws: Ensure all products comply with applicable consumer protection laws, safety standards, and import/export regulations
• Proper categorisation: List products in the appropriate category and subcategory. Miscategorisation to gain visibility is not allowed

5. Buyer Conduct

Buyers on Declotr are expected to:

• Act in good faith: Only place orders you intend to complete. Repeated order cancellations or non-payments may result in account restrictions
• Honest reviews: Leave genuine, fair reviews based on your actual experience. Do not use reviews to extort, blackmail, or unfairly damage a seller's reputation
• Respect return policies: Follow the return and refund procedures outlined in the seller's listing and our Return Policy
• Payment compliance: Use only approved payment methods. Do not attempt chargebacks for goods or services that were delivered as described
• Respectful communication: Treat sellers, other buyers, and Declotr staff with courtesy and respect in all interactions

6. Live Selling & Reels

Declotr's live selling and reels features bring our community together. To keep these spaces safe and enjoyable:

• No offensive content: Live sessions and reels must not contain profanity, harassment, hate speech, nudity, or graphic violence
• Genuine products only: All products showcased in live sessions must be available for sale and accurately represented
• No misleading demos: Product demonstrations must be honest — do not exaggerate capabilities, use video effects to alter appearance, or misrepresent product functionality
• Respect your audience: Do not target, mock, or harass viewers. Maintain a professional and welcoming tone
• Age-appropriate content: All live and reel content must be suitable for a general audience of all ages
• No spam streaming: Do not repeatedly start and end live sessions to game notifications or visibility algorithms

7. Auctions & Bidding

Declotr auction features require fair play from all participants:

• Genuine bids only: Only place bids you are willing and able to honour. Winning a bid creates a binding obligation to complete the purchase
• No shill bidding: Sellers (or their associates) may not bid on their own items to artificially increase the price
• No bid retraction abuse: Repeatedly retracting bids to manipulate auction outcomes is prohibited
• Timely payment: Auction winners must complete payment within the specified timeframe. Failure to pay may result in penalties and account restrictions
• No collusion: Agreeing with other bidders to keep prices artificially low is prohibited

8. Intellectual Property

Declotr respects intellectual property rights and expects all users to do the same:

• Original content: Only upload images, videos, descriptions, and other content that you own or have the right to use
• No counterfeits: Listing or selling counterfeit, replica, or knock-off products is strictly prohibited. Items must be genuine unless explicitly described as "inspired by" or "unbranded"
• Trademark compliance: Do not use brand names, logos, or trademarks in a way that suggests endorsement or affiliation without proper authorisation
• Copyright compliance: Do not reproduce, distribute, or publicly display copyrighted works (music, images, videos) without permission in your listings, reels, or live sessions
• DMCA/Takedown requests: If you believe your intellectual property has been infringed on Declotr, contact us with a detailed notice and we will investigate promptly

9. Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account:

• Strong passwords: Use a unique, strong password that is not shared with any other service
• Confidentiality: Do not share your login credentials, access tokens, or API keys with anyone
• Unauthorised access: Report any suspected unauthorised access to your account immediately by contacting security@declotr.com
• Session management: Log out of shared or public devices after use
• Account transferability: Accounts are personal and non-transferable. You may not sell, trade, or give away your account

10. Reporting Violations

If you encounter content or behaviour that violates this Acceptable Use Policy, we encourage you to report it:

• In-app reporting: Use the report button available on product listings, reels, live sessions, user profiles, and messages
• Email: Send a detailed report to abuse@declotr.com including the offending content, the user involved, and any supporting evidence (screenshots, links)
• Urgent matters: For content that involves imminent danger, threats of violence, or exploitation of minors, please also contact local law enforcement immediately

All reports are reviewed by our Trust & Safety team. We may not always disclose the outcome of an investigation, but we take every report seriously and will act in accordance with our enforcement policies.

11. Enforcement & Consequences

Violations of this AUP may result in the following actions, depending on the severity and frequency of the violation:

• Warning: A formal notice informing you of the violation and requesting corrective action
• Content removal: Removal of listings, reels, reviews, or messages that violate this policy
• Feature restrictions: Temporary loss of access to specific features (e.g., live selling, auction bidding, messaging)
• Account suspension: Temporary suspension of your account while a violation is investigated
• Account termination: Permanent ban from the Platform for severe or repeated violations
• Financial penalties: Withholding of pending payouts, reversal of fraudulent transactions, or recovery of damages
• Legal action: Reporting to law enforcement or pursuing civil remedies for violations that constitute criminal activity or cause financial harm

We reserve the right to take any combination of these actions at our sole discretion. Decisions may be appealed by contacting appeals@declotr.com within 14 days.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will:

• Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page
• Notify affected users via email or in-app notification if the changes significantly impact how the Platform may be used
• Post the revised policy on our website

Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated AUP.
