1. Overview

Declotr is a social commerce marketplace that connects buyers with independent sellers. As such, shipping is primarily managed by individual sellers, not by Declotr directly. However, we establish standards and guidelines to ensure a consistent and reliable shipping experience.

This Shipping Policy outlines the general framework for shipping on our platform. Specific shipping details (methods, costs, and timeframes) may vary by seller and will be displayed on each product listing before you complete your purchase.

2. How Shipping Works on Declotr

When you place an order on Declotr, here's what happens:

  1. Order placed: You complete your purchase and payment is processed securely through our platform
  2. Seller notified: The seller receives your order details and begins preparing your item for shipment
  3. Order shipped: The seller packages your item and hands it over to the shipping carrier. You'll receive a notification with tracking information (where available)
  4. In transit: The shipping carrier delivers your package to the address you provided during checkout
  5. Delivered: Once delivered, you can confirm receipt in the app and leave a review for the seller

3. Order Processing Time

Processing time is the time it takes for a seller to prepare and ship your order after it has been placed. This is separate from the delivery time.

Sellers are required to specify their processing time on each listing. If a seller cannot fulfil an order within the stated timeframe, they must notify the buyer and update the order status.

4. Shipping Methods

Sellers may offer one or more of the following shipping methods:

  • Standard Shipping: The most cost-effective option with regular delivery timeframes. Suitable for non-urgent orders
  • Express Shipping: Faster delivery at a higher cost. Ideal for time-sensitive purchases
  • Same-Day / Next-Day Delivery: Available in select cities and from select sellers. Subject to order time cutoffs (usually before 12:00 PM)
  • Seller Pickup: Some sellers offer the option for buyers to pick up items directly from a designated location
  • Free Shipping: Some sellers offer free shipping on qualifying orders or as part of promotions

Available shipping methods will be displayed at checkout based on the seller's configuration and your delivery address.

5. Estimated Delivery Timeframes

Delivery times vary based on the shipping method, origin, and destination. Below are general estimates for domestic (within Nigeria) shipping:

Note: These are estimates only. Actual delivery times may be affected by public holidays, weather conditions, carrier delays, or remote delivery locations. Declotr does not guarantee specific delivery dates unless explicitly stated.

6. Shipping Costs

Shipping costs are determined by the seller based on several factors:

  • Package weight and dimensions: Heavier or larger items may cost more to ship
  • Delivery distance: The distance between the seller's location and your delivery address
  • Shipping method: Express and same-day options are typically more expensive than standard shipping
  • Carrier rates: Different shipping carriers charge varying rates

Shipping costs are clearly displayed at checkout before you confirm your order. You will never be charged hidden shipping fees after placing an order.

Some sellers may offer free shipping on all orders, orders above a certain value, or during promotional periods. Look for the "Free Shipping" badge on eligible listings.

7. Order Tracking

Once your order has been shipped, you can track its progress:

  • In-app tracking: Go to "My Orders" in the Declotr app, select your order, and view the current status and tracking details
  • Push notifications: You'll receive real-time notifications when your order status changes (shipped, in transit, out for delivery, delivered)
  • Tracking number: Where available, sellers will provide a tracking number you can use on the carrier's website or app for detailed tracking

Not all sellers or shipping methods support detailed tracking. If tracking information is not available, you can contact the seller directly through the app for updates on your order.

8. Domestic Shipping (Nigeria)

Declotr primarily serves the Nigerian market. Domestic shipping is available to all states within Nigeria. Key points:

  • Coverage: All 36 states and the FCT are covered, though delivery times may be longer for remote or rural areas
  • Carrier partners: Sellers may use a variety of logistics providers including GIG Logistics, DHL, FedEx, Kwik Delivery, and other local couriers
  • Address accuracy: Please ensure your delivery address is complete and accurate — including landmarks, phone numbers, and any special delivery instructions. Incomplete addresses may cause delivery delays or failures
  • Weekend & holidays: Most carriers do not deliver on Sundays or public holidays. Orders placed on weekends are typically processed the next business day

9. International Shipping

Some sellers on Declotr offer international shipping. If available, it will be indicated on the product listing. Important considerations:

  • Availability: International shipping is offered at the seller's discretion and may not be available for all products
  • Delivery time: International deliveries typically take 7–30 business days, depending on the destination and shipping method
  • Customs and duties: International orders may be subject to customs duties, import taxes, and fees imposed by the destination country. These charges are the buyer's responsibility and are not included in the product price or shipping cost
  • Restricted items: Certain products may be restricted or prohibited from international shipment due to local regulations. It is the buyer's responsibility to verify import regulations in their country
  • Returns: International returns may be more complex and costly. Please review the seller's return policy before purchasing

10. Undeliverable Packages

A package may be deemed undeliverable for several reasons:

  • Incorrect or incomplete delivery address
  • Recipient not available after multiple delivery attempts
  • Refused delivery by the recipient
  • Restricted or inaccessible delivery location

If a package is returned to the seller as undeliverable:

  • The seller will attempt to contact you to arrange re-delivery
  • Additional shipping charges may apply for re-delivery
  • If re-delivery cannot be arranged within 14 days, the order may be cancelled and a refund issued (minus original shipping costs)

11. Lost or Damaged Shipments

While Declotr and our sellers take every precaution to ensure your order arrives safely, sometimes issues occur during transit.

Lost Packages

  • If your order has not arrived within the estimated delivery window plus 5 business days, contact the seller through the app
  • If the seller cannot resolve the issue, open a dispute through Declotr's resolution centre
  • We will investigate the matter and may issue a full refund or arrange a replacement

Damaged Packages

  • If your order arrives damaged, take clear photos of the packaging and the damaged items immediately
  • Contact the seller within 48 hours of delivery with the photos and a description of the damage
  • The seller will work with you to arrange a replacement, refund, or partial refund depending on the extent of the damage

12. Seller Responsibilities

Sellers on Declotr are expected to:

  • Specify shipping details: Clearly state processing time, shipping methods, costs, and estimated delivery times on each listing
  • Package items securely: Use appropriate packaging materials to protect items during transit. Fragile items must be clearly labelled
  • Ship on time: Fulfil orders within the processing time specified in the listing. Late shipments negatively affect seller ratings
  • Provide tracking: Where possible, provide tracking information to buyers promptly after shipping
  • Communicate proactively: Notify buyers immediately of any delays, stock issues, or problems with their order
  • Handle shipping disputes: Work with buyers to resolve shipping-related issues fairly and promptly

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Shipping Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our platform, shipping partners, or operations. When we make changes:

  • The "Last Updated" date will be revised
  • Material changes will be communicated via in-app notification or email
  • The updated policy will be available on our website and in the app
